For over 30 years, we’ve been making wines with big personalities in small lots. Staying small allows us to give our all to every wine we make and remain committed to our passion for representing some of the best plots throughout Napa Valley.

Cornerstone Cellars was born from a moment of inspiration and has developed into a way of life for more than three decades. Throughout it all, it has become undoubtedly clear that fundamental to a good life is the opportunity to share great wine and food.

Our story

Cornerstone Cellars’ story begins in 1991 atop Howell Mountain. Founder, Dr. Mike Dragutsky purchased a few tons of Cabernet Sauvignon in a moment of inspiration. A few years later, the founding team hired a celebrated consulting winemaker, who brought their assistant, Kari Auringer. This new talent re-defined the Cornerstone portfolio with a focus on making wines grounded in classic expressions of hillside terroir.

That was in 2001, and it wasn’t until eight years later that a new Yountville winery opened its doors. Our Yountville Tasting Salon became a place for us to pour our classic wines in a low-key, intimate atmosphere.

In 2014, Kari Auringer returned to shape our wine portfolio even further. Having developed her career at several iconic Northern Californian wineries, she brings an unmatched skillset and palate to the Cornerstone portfolio.

In 2021, we celebrated our 30th anniversary. Under Auringer’s guiding hand, we remain stubbornly distinctive, making wines with personality. It all started in Howell Mountain, and today we represent many single vineyards.

Our Tasting Salon is located in downtown Yountville in the heart of Napa Valley. This charming downtown is vibrant with art, wine, and a world-class culinary scene. We source grapes from some of the best sites around Napa, including Howell Mountain, Oakville, Rutherford, and Calistoga.
